Since 2005\, he has been heading the investments area within Amarillo National Bank’s $4.5 billion trust department. He oversees all facets of that department including: staff management\, asset allocation targets\, manager/fund selection\, economic analysis\, trading\, and client communication. Additionally\, he delivers an economic summary to Amarillo National Bank’s asset and liability committee\, where interest rates are set. He has a BBA in Finance from West Texas A&M University. He earned the right to use the CFA designation in 2006. Matt and his wife of 28 years reside in Amarillo\, Texas where they are busy raising their seven children. \nMatt will lay out a picture of the key economic ideas that got us to where we are today. Is the current economic cycle just beginning or drawing to a close? What makes this cycle different from previous cycles? Will the Federal Reserve Bank cut rates or hold them at these higher levels? Using charts and very current data\, these questions will be explored. DESCRIPTION:Mr. Steve Lanham Brings us The Lubbock Chorale \nThe Lubbock Chorale – Four Decades of Choral Excellence \n\nMasterworks Finale – Mozart’s Requiem\nApril 21\, 2024 | 6:00PM | St. John’s United Methodist Church\nPURCHASE TICKETS \nMozart’s Requiem is a choral masterpiece that he composed in 1791\, just a few months before his untimely death at the age of 35. The work was commissioned by a mysterious stranger who wished to remain anonymous and claimed that the Requiem was intended for his own funeral. Mozart\, who was in poor health and struggling financially\, accepted the commission and set to work on the piece. \nUnfortunately\, Mozart was not able to complete the Requiem before his death\, leaving behind only sketches and notes for several of the movements. The work was completed by Franz Xaver Süssmayr\, one of Mozart’s pupils\, who used Mozart’s sketches to finish the piece. Despite its incomplete nature\, the Requiem remains one of Mozart’s most celebrated and beloved works\, known for its dramatic intensity\, intricate choral writing\, and haunting beauty. \nThis is the last concert of the season for The Lubbock Chorale is scheduled for April 21st. \nThe Lubbock Civic Chorale began in September 1976\, following numerous enthusiastic performances by a “sing-along” group during the city’s Bicentennial celebration. That first group was only a handful of singers who had a dream of creating choral excellence on the South Plains. Over the years\, the group grew to a viable force in Lubbock. In 1985\, the Chorale was asked to perform with the Texas Tech University choirs and the University Symphony Orchestra in the annual Scholarship Concerts. The ensemble changed its name to The Lubbock Chorale in October 1992 and has steadily and consistently grown in stature and reputation to become a viable artistic force in the South Plains. Concert seasons now regularly include the presentation of choral masterworks with full symphony orchestras. \nThe Lubbock Chorale will be a positive force in the advocacy and evolution of the choral art through cultivating educational opportunities\, nurturing intergenerational experiences\, and creating musical excellence on the Texas High Plains. The Lubbock Chorale prepares and performs choral music to the highest artistic standards for the West Texas community. Alongside his responsibilities within the church\, Jeff is actively engaged in working with new groups forming in the Lubbock area that will be affiliated with First Lubbock. His primary focus is on launching and nurturing these new faith groups\, ensuring their growth and sustainability.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBefore his current appointment\, Jeff served as the Director of Transitional Ministry for the NWTX Conference. During his time in this role\, he played a crucial part in the original formation of many of the groups. His work with these groups was aimed at creating a solid foundation for their development\, and now he continues to support them as they evolve into sustainable extensions of First Lubbock.\nJeff’s involvement in the church community extends beyond his role as a Multi-Site Pastor. He presently serves as the President of the NWTX Conference Board of Trustees and holds the position of Chair of Conference Global Ministries. Prior to his appointment to the Conference\, he served as a pastor at First United Methodist in Anton and in Shallowater. His experience as a leader is further underscored by his roles as Lubbock District Lay Leader\, Conference Lay Leader\, and General Conference alternate/Jurisdictional Conference Delegate in 2016. Jeff has also served as the Ad Board Chair at First Lubbock.\nJeff’s educational background reflects his diverse interests and his drive to constantly expand his knowledge. He graduated from Lubbock Coronado High School and holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and sociology from Baylor University. He also holds a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University. Currently\, Jeff is pursuing a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from the United Theological Seminary\, with an expected graduation date of December 2024. This educational pursuit reflects his deep commitment to personal growth and equipping himself to serve his community more effectively.\nOutside of his professional endeavors\, Jeff is a devoted family man. He is the proud father of two sons\, Jack and Levi\, aged 16 and 15\, respectively. One of his favorite professors started a class by explaining that the key to understanding public economics is recognizing that “Anything the government does is twice as costly and half as effective as what the private sector can do.” \nAfter graduating from Rhodes\, Dustin was anxious to get back to West Texas. He moved home in 2001 and graduated from the Texas Tech School of Law and the Rawls College of Business with a J.D. and M.B.A. in 2004. Dustin is a small business owner\, practicing law at the Burrows Law Firm in Lubbock. \nDustin has had the opportunity to represent individuals and small businesses engaged in a variety of industries. Currently\, most of his practice is devoted to representing agricultural producers in Gaines\, Terry\, Lynn and Lubbock counties. Dustin has learned that people in all walks of life strive to be lawful members of society; however\, the sheer volume and complexity of the laws create a high hurdle to living a lawful and regulatory-compliant life. Dustin believes we need fewer laws\, not more\, and that the Texas legislature should work to repeal and simplify our overburdening laws. \nDustin is married to Elisabeth\, who grew up in South Texas in a family involved with cattle ranching and oil & gas. Did you know that many head college football coaches have a choice in what their security detail will be? At Texas Tech University in Lubbock\, it’s the Texas Rangers of Company C.\n\n\nThe practice of a Texas Ranger security detail for coaches started with the University of Texas (UT) former head coach Mack Brown in 1998. Today\, Texas Tech is the only college that uses Rangers for its security detail\, which was started under head coach Mike Leach. Other Texas college coaches have security handled by the Texas Highway Patrol\, various sheriff departments\, and local city-level police. UT currently uses the Texas Highway Patrol.\n\n\nOne of the current Rangers handling the security is Ranger Lt. Scott Stevenson\, stationed in Lubbock. Lt. Stevenson has been on the security detail since 2013. He enjoys working with many of the young men who come through the football program and has helped several go on to begin careers in the Department of Public Safety. Stevenson also enjoys getting to be on the sidelines for a sport he loves to watch. They are no longer a small group protecting new land\, now they assist local agencies in investigations anywhere from murders\, missing persons\, and public corruption.\n“I think it gives a lot of agencies a piece of mind\, just knowing that hey if they need us were just a phone call away\,” Lt. Scott Stevenson said.\nTwo hundred years later\, the Texas Rangers are holding onto the cherished legacy of their predecessors.\n“That white shirt cowboy hat\, when it walks into a scene everyone kinda notices when we arrive on scene and that’s special to me and very special to be a part of\,” Lt.
